Favorite Restaurants

Black Sheep Bistro, Vergennes

When my husband and I go out for a great meal we always choose Blask Sheep. We are very excited that the Bobcat in Bristol is not managed by Black Sheep and are looking forward to great meals in Bristol.

Dawn fron Russell Library in Monkton

Trout River Traders and Flicks, Montgomery Center

Both these places have good food!  Much is fresh, homemade.  Trout River has great tapas in the summer for dinner (at least they did last summer!).   Flicks is pizza, sandwiches, wraps, etc. but a bit above run of the mill, and the baked goods are worthwile too. Debbie from Montgomery Town

A Single Pebble, Burlington, VT

An Asian inspired restaurant that is as close to real Chinese food as I've found in Vermont.  None of the standard gloppy sweet and sour or bland beef and broccoli. Flavors are intense, food has real mouth appeal, and the presentation is outstanding.  Try the dry fried green beans or a Chop Your Head Off soup.  For that matter, try anything, it's all beautifully presented and delightful to eat.  PLLoggerR

The Belfry, Montgomery, VT

Rustic, casual atmosphere.  Great food!  From Marty's Maple Wings to Blackened...whatever (scallops, fish, steak)  -Petra

Tiny Thai, Essex VT

My favorite dish is the Pad Kee Maow, or "drunken noodles". It has very wide noodles, in a tangy-spicy sauce, tossed with vegetables like tomatoes, mushrooms, green peppers to name a few; with your choice of meat or tofu. The restraunt in Essex is very small, but worth the wait (if any). It's also BYOB (or BYOW(ine)), so it makes the perfect economical dinner out. For a real treat, try the fried banana and icecream! -Heather

Sarducci's, Montpelier

There are so many things I love about lunch at Sarducci's-- the pasta, the smell of garlic, the policiticians at the next table, the bread.... If you get there early, the tables overlooking the river are divine. I try to chekc in at least once a month, and so far, never a bad meal....  Amy

NorthStar Music Cafe, Portland, ME

Wholesome organic ingredients with even vegan options served up in a venue that values community and diversity.  Try the Leo (sandwich) or the Phoenix (salad).  Evenings include accoustic music artists both local and touring.  Am I biased because my daughter owns the place?... Emily

West Bank Cafe, NYC (43rd St between 9th and 10th Aves.)

This is a fine place to grab a bite when in New York's theater district.  Menu is not huge, but food is fresh and always well-prepared.  I love the lemon pancakes with strawerries for brunch.  The atmosphere is NY bistro-ish, the wait staff is always friendly, and the wait for a table is rarely long.  If you have to make a curtain time, you will!  ...Megan

Gordo Burrito, San Francisco, CA
I have yet to find a burrito place in the Burlington area that adds up to Gordo Burrito. Plus, even the supremo costs, like, five bucks. It's beautiful and it's a bargain (but the plane fare makes it a bit expensive).
